Augat Children’s Room

The Attleboro Library Augat Children’s Room/Youth Services Department has books, movies, music, sensory learning kits, various learning backpacks/kits, and programs for infants to 8th graders and the adults who work with and care for them.

We offer weekly programs for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. During school vacation weeks and the summer months, we offer programs for children of all ages. Programs include weekly story times, crafts, STEAM activities, family nights, and many wonderful performances by outside providers. All our programs are free.

Find out about upcoming events by checking the library’s online calendar or dropping by for a visit and chatting with us.

The Head of Children’s Services will be glad to provide lists of recommended books, by grade level and subject. Other staff who work in the Children’s Room are also happy to help you find just the right book(s). The Children’s Desk has its own phone number: 508-222-7820.

Our support and services to Attleboro-area schools include visits to preschools to read stories, and tours of the children’s room for school groups. Each year, we engage all the second grades in the Attleboro Public Schools. We have also visited other grades, informing students about our collections and services. We would be happy to come to any classroom for an age-appropriate presentation. We are always interested in working with teachers to ensure that we have enough material to support student research and reading assignments.

Please be respectful of your library by observing the following rules of good library behavior:

  • No running or overly noisy play.

  • Library staff members are not responsible for the care of unsupervised children.

  • Children ages 10 and under may not be left unattended. Here is the Library’s unattended child policy, adopted by our Board of Trustees. Lost or unattended children ages 10 and under will be returned to their parents or caregivers. We believe in the safety of all our patrons, particularly our youngest!

  • Shoes must be worn in the library for the safety of library patrons and staff.
