Wi-Fi Hotspots

No Wi-Fi? No problem! Borrow one of APL’s portable hotspots for instant access to Wi-Fi at home or on-the-go. Each hotspot connects up to 10 Wi-Fi devices, including laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Hotspots are checked out for 2 weeks (no renewals) and are great for traveling, but they only work within the continental U.S. For troubleshooting assistance, please contact Mobile Beacon at 401-934-0500.

Ready to borrow? All of APL’s hotspots may be borrowed on a first-come, first-served basis. Adults with a Massachusetts library card in good standing may request a hotspot when they come to the library.

How do I borrow a hotspot?

  • Anyone age 18 or older with a Massachusetts library card in good standing may borrow a Wi-Fi hotspot. (No one under 18 years of age may borrow a hotspot.)
  • You may only check out one hotspot device per household at any time.
  • You may borrow and return a Wi-Fi hotspot only at the first floor Circulation Desk at the Attleboro Public Library. Wi-Fi hotspots cannot be returned in the book drop or to another library.
  • 6/5/23 UPDATE: All of APL’s hotspots are now first-come, first-serve, with no holds allowed. Feel free to call us (508-222-0157) to see if any hotspots are available.

Hotspot lending rules

  • Loan period: 2 weeks; no renewals.
(The hotspot Wi-Fi service will be turned off when overdue.)

  • Please note that there is a 24-hour waiting period between returning a hotspot and requesting another. In other words, you cannot return a hotspot and request another one for the same day. Our hotspots are very popular, and we want to make requesting them as equitable a process as possible for you, our patrons.

  • Check in: Hotspots must be returned to staff at the Circulation Desk during library hours.

  • Fines: The late fine is $5.00 per day that the hotspot is late.
12/2/23 UPDATE: If you accrue $10.00 or more in hotspot late fees, you must pay the entire amount of late fees before you are able to borrow another hotspot.

  • Lost or damaged replacement fees:
    • Hotspot (including all parts): $77.00
    • Lost cord: $10.00
    • Lost adapter: $10.00
    • Lost case: $15.00

  • Disclaimers: Internet content filtering is NOT provided with APL hotspots. The library does not track any internet usage. By using the hotspot, you are agreeing that you will not take part in any illegal activities.
  • The Library is not responsible for any files, data, or personal information accessed or transmitted using the Wi-Fi hotspot.
  • Please note: You can only use the hotspot inside the continental US. There is no international data or roaming.
