Attleboro Public Library is thrilled to announce that we are again taking part in this year’s Harmony Fiesta, being held on Saturday September 26, from 12-6pm. This event is organized by Mixed Mosaic a group of local organization leaders and residents, helmed by Walter and Christine Vivar, and features music, food and beverage vendors, local artisan vendors, activities for children, and much more.
This year’s entertainment lineup includes New Orleans-style band Vox Americana; Cultura Dance Arts, which will teach Latin dance; Guatemalan music group Marimba Sentimiento Chapin Drum; Kekeli African Drum & Dance; Willie J. Law’s blues and jazz band; 9-year-old local rapper Joel Carter; rap and hip-hop group REB1ne; and Indian dance group Trinalaya.
Cultural vendors will represent countries and groups including Guatemala, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, the Wampanoag Nation and others, as well as African cultures.
For children, local theater company Illuminate Arts will perform puppet shows each hour, and Attleboro Lions Futbol Club will lead soccer activities. There will also be face painting and other activities by the Attleboro Recreation Department and Attleboro Public Library.
Ari’s Lemonade, D&M Pizza, Krakatoa Garden, Mici’s Kitchen, DQ Asados, The Burrito Bowl and Turner Brothers will be on site offering food and refreshments.
According to The Sun Chronicle, “Walter Vivar said the goal of the fiesta is to celebrate people regardless of their cultures, ethnicities, sexual orientations, backgrounds and religions, and to bring them together to celebrate their shared humanity, rather than their differences.” We can’t wait to see you all there!
