September is National Library Card Sign-up Month! Getting your own library card truly is a right of passage. It gives you FREE access to technology, online resources, education, and entertainment. The Attleboro Public Library has some great, unusual items (and spaces) that you may not associate with a library, like a local history room; quiet work/study spaces; and unique items like bike locks, ukuleles, robots, and tools and toys for children with a variety of sensory needs. Library collections of magazines, video games, puzzles and board games are popular with cardholders of all ages. Better yet, you can suggest new items to add! Staff are eager to hear what you are looking for.
Why get a library card? The answers are endless. But don’t take it from librarians, here is some excellent testimony from one of our colleagues at City Hall, who encourages everyone to get their own card: “I just LOVE my library card! I use it in conjunction with the Libby app. I am able to borrow an unlimited amount of ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines for FREE right from the comfort of my home using my phone. There are thousands of choices. I listen to the audiobooks in my car when driving and it makes the time fly by.”
