Attleboro’s Community Read begins September 9!

The APL is excited to share that this year’s City of Attleboro’s Community Read title is Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson! This book has been enthusiastically received by local readers. “So many powerful messages packed into this quirky little story” according to one and “I loved this book! It made me reflect on how taking chances and diving in with your full, authentic self can lead you to adventures you never would have imagined. I remember being impacted by how much a child can thrive when accepted for their full self. That caregivers and role models don’t have to be perfect, they just have to lead with love” according to another. Attleboro’s 1ABC committee believes readers are going to love this wild ride into an almost real world where strong emotions truly heat things up.

The official kickoff event is Saturday, September 9, from 2-4PM at the Attleboro Arts Museum, 86 Park Street. This is the opening reception for Creature Comforts, an invitational exhibition inspired by toys owned by a character in Nothing to See Here, featuring portraits of stuffed animals. Selected artists will share how the creatures portrayed in a variety of media comforted, entertained, and became important members of their family.

Additional events related to the novel’s themes will take place through the spring of 2024. Please check our Events calendar for more details. We encourage you to engage in this Community Read, because sharing a book with friends and neighbors promotes conversation, and ultimately, understanding while building and deepening relationships.

This year’s Community Read could not have been possible without the generous support of Bristol County Savings Bank, the Attleboro Arts Museum, the Friends of Attleboro Public Library, and the APL Board of Trustees. The dedication and enthusiasm of the Attleboro Public Schools and Bishop Feehan High School keep Attleboro’s 1ABC committee focused on celebrating reading together. ALL of the community read partners play a key role in bringing the city together. We look forward to seeing you!
