Summer is a perfect time to borrow one of our MOBYpacks, themed backpacks filled with books and hands-on tools that families can use together to explore the world around them. MOBY stands for “My Own BackYard,” and each blue backpack has a nature-based theme, including stars, trees, and insects.
To promote literacy, there is also a journal within each MOBYpack that can be used to write and/or draw experiences while using the pack. This also acts as a wonderful, “pay-it-forward” way to encourage future borrowers on how to use the backpack. Remember, it’s important to use your voice—our summer reading theme this year!—to help others out!
Each MOBYpack may be borrowed for two weeks. Visit the APL Children’s Room to start your investigations, whether in your backyard or a nearby field or park!
