Attention Teens & Tweens: Blackout Poetry is Back!

Blackout Poetry display

Blackout poetry created at the library in the spring of 2015.

Blackout Poetry is back by popular demand!  Back in May, a group of 15 teens and tweens got together and made some amazing poetry using the pages of recycled books, and they had so much fun they requested to do it again!  We have granted their request and planned another session of Blackout Poetry on Wednesday September 2, 2015 from 6:30pm-7:30pm!

Youth in grades 5-12 are welcome to join us for this fun and creative program!  Participants will be provided with markers and book pages and will be encouraged to create a poem from the words on the page, blacking out the rest of the words so only the chosen ones are visible.  At the last session we had some fantastic participants who were very creative in their way of blacking out the text, using a variety of colors, patterns and pictures.

Does this sound like fun to you?  Register online!  You can also register by talking to a library staff member in person, or by calling us at 508-222-7820.  Hope to see you there!!
