Library closed for Memorial Day

The Attleboro Public Library will be closed Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day. The library will resume its normal hours of operation on Tuesday, May 27.

Memorial Day, a federal holiday celebrated the last Monday of May, honors the individuals who died while serving in the military. On this day, it is important to recognize and remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in military service to our country.

For more information about the history of Memorial Day, please visit the United States Department of Veterans Affairs online. You will find information on why poppies are traditionally worn on Memorial Day and guidelines for displaying the flag as well as read the original Memorial Day order.

There are many ways to celebrate the people who have sacrificed for our country: from placing flags on gravesites, to reaching out to a survivor, to doing an act of kindness for the community.

The APL staff will march in Monday’s Memorial Day Parade, starting at 10AM. We hope to see many of you at this event.
