Mention the phrase “summer reading” at the APL, and you’ll see energy and enthusiasm, as it’s a favorite time of year for the team. This year, we will launch the “Read, Renew, Repeat” Summer Reading Program at the Communitywide Summer Reading Kickoff on Friday, June 14 (i.e., the last day of school!) from 1:30-3PM in the Balfour Riverwalk Park. In addition to signing up for the APL Summer Reading Program, you can enjoy crafts, activities, and a parade led by student musicians in the Attleboro High School Marching Band. Community partners will be there to add to the fun and festivities.
Throughout the summer, the Library is the place to be to read, learn, discover, and enjoy! Free activities and events for children, tweens, teens, and adults will focus on themes of nature, recycling, and conservation. Programs include birding, learning about pollution, a giant-size outdoor board games night for all ages, adult Crafternoons, and even an informative program about poop! Check out the Events page to find out about all the programs being offered.
Registration begins at the kickoff on June 14. Check out our Summer Reading page for everything you need to know.
If you’re looking for titles on your school’s summer reading list, APL has multiple displays with copies of these books. If your child is entering grades 1-8 in the Attleboro Public Schools, the displays will be in the Children’s Room, whereas high school lists will be available in displays on the third-floor in the young adult section.
Finally, you can win prizes–and bragging rights–for reaching your reading goals, so please visit us throughout the summer!
This year’s summer reading fun is sponsored by the Attleboro Public Library, the Friends of Attleboro Library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, Read, Renew, Repeat © 2024, iREAD
