National Library Week (April 7-13) is an annual celebration of what libraries mean to their communities. This year’s national theme of “Ready, Set, Library!” promotes the idea that in an increasingly online world, libraries give the green light to something truly special: a place to connect with others, focusing on what matters most to you.
For each day of Library Week library staff will hold the following spirit days, and we hope you join in:
Monday: Put Your Best Book Forward! Wear your bookish swag!
Tuesday: Bring in Your Book Buddy! The Community Read of Nothing to See Here celebrates cozy companions of all kinds (like Melvin, the APL’s owl mascot) Tuesday is also National Library Workers Day, so please do give a shout out to your friendly APL staff members!
Wednesday: Let’s Bloom Together! Taking a cue from library director Amy’s fashion sense, we’ll be wearing floral prints to encourage looking on the bright side.
Thursday: A Rainbow of Readers! Wear your favorite color and find a book, movie, or music title to match as we celebrate the diversity of our city. Feel free to take a photo of yourself and send to us so that we can share to our Facebook or Instagram pages!
Friday: Pajama Day! Who doesn’t want to wear to their pjs to work? Bedtime is a favorite time to pick up a book, so let’s get started earlier than usual!
