The APL is always expanding its Library of Things (LOT) collection. What is a “library of things,” you might ask? It’s a collection of unusual items you may not think a library would have, but can provide enjoyment, recreation, and/or education.
Attleboro’s LOT consists of several kinds of kits, including MOBYpacks, which are nature-themed backpacks filled with books and hands-on tools, games, and manipulatives to explore the outdoors; Bilingual Backpacks, which offer hands-on materials and good books to help you learn a second language like Spanish, Arabic, or ASL; and the Everyone Explores kits that have a specific sensory focus and contain anything from toys and manipulatives to weighted vests and blankets.
The LOT also has robots that enhance STEM learning as well as the popular ukulele kits with a guide and DVD to learn to play. Finally, there are hundreds of board games and jigsaw puzzles for all ages to take home and enjoy.
You can search here using the SAILS catalog, and guarantee yourself education, fun, or both when you borrow from the LOT!
