Virtual Visit with US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo

In a challenging world where many are tuning out of the news and are overwhelmed with detailed information, you are invited to take a deep breath and join us in an evening of inspiration and reflection. Poems, or as Samuel Coleridge has said, the best words in the best order, can be food for the soul. There’s a reason why many of us only listen to poetry at weddings or funerals – perhaps because they can express our strongest emotions so eloquently. Whether you love poetry, or if you’re eager to learn more about this genre, we hope to see you online on Wednesday, September 22 at 7pm when Joy Harjo meets with us.

Ms. Harjo is a writer of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, and three-time US Poet Laureate. She will speak on the power of poetry and her book, An American Sunrise: Poems. The author of nine books of poetry, several plays and children’s books, and two memoirs, Crazy Brave and Poet Warrior, will also answer questions from the audience.

This is a free event, and a link to register on Crowdcast is available at anunlikelystory.com/joy-harjo.
