Celebrating National Book Lovers Day

Bibliophiles, bookworms, and beginning readers rejoice! August 9 is National Book Lovers Day, a day to celebrate the joy of books and literature. Reading is a great way to see the world, to learn a new skill, or to walk in someone else’s shoes. Books expand our imaginations and encourage us to dream big dreams. Reading motivates us to see others and helps us feel seen. Whether your favorite genre is non-fiction, graphic novels, mystery, fantasy, or something else, the right book is out there for you. Let us help you find it here, at the Library!

So put away your smartphones, and join us in celebrating books, literacy, and a love of reading. Whether you are a voracious reader, wanting to read more, or just beginning your book-loving journey, there are many ways to celebrate National Book Lovers Day. Here are a few ideas:

– Participate in Summer Reading through August 16.
– Ask a librarian for book recommendations or check out an old favorite. (Hint: Both of these can help you get an “X” on this summer’s adult book bingo card, where you can win gift cards to local businesses when you get a bingo!)
– Join one of the Library’s popular book groups.
– Sign-up for Libby or hoopla to download your next favorite ebook or audiobook.

However you decide to celebrate, have a very happy National Book Lovers Day!
