Online Learning Resources for Kids & Teens

Below are some online learning resources for school-age children and teens. We hope these are helpful, this page will be updated as we come across additional resources! For even more resources, visit our Pinterest Board Resources For At-Home Learning!

APL staff have been working hard on these tutorials, which give a quick introduction to the fabulous educational databases the library has to offer…free with your library card!

Libby App: Libby, by Overdrive, is the app that gives you access to thousands of e-books and e-audiobooks owned by the SAILS Library system. Download the app from your app store, or click on this link to access Overdrive on a desktop. Sign in using your library card number and your PIN number (your PIN is usually the last four digits of the phone number you gave when applying for your card). This tutorial shows you how to access even more through Libby, by adding outside library networks. Adding other networks allows you access to their e-collections, all with your SAILS library card. Having trouble? Contact apl_ref@sailsinc.org for help.

Mango Languages: Need extra language learning support at home? Download the free Mango Languages app and start following lessons on the language of your choice! Click here to learn more.

Tumblebooks App: Need even more to read for all ages? Check out the Tumblebooks app for access to e-books, audiobooks and more! To learn more watch the tutorial here.

Kanopy App: Kanopy is a video streaming app that has a whole section devoted to kids content! There are great educational shows available and even language learning videos! Check out the overall Kanopy tutorial here, and the Kanopy Kids tutorial here.

Taking Care of Yourself

It is also vitally important that children and teens (and adults!) take care of themselves. Play Self-Care Bingo to make sure you are taking care of you in these trying times.

Every day, Wonderopolis publishes a new “Wonder of the Day,” and each is designed to get kids and families to read, think, talk, and find learning moments together in everyday life. Questions cover everything from science, social studies/families/culture, technology, animals, to the background behind a figure of speech with facts, information, suggestions for activities, useful links, and occasional videos.
