With threats to federal funding looming, organizations are rallying around libraries and their role building community across the country. Locally, individual libraries, the SAILS network, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners are helping to show library users the effects of these cuts and how to best advocate for the trusted institutions they love and rely on. Nationally, the American Library Association is also speaking up with a statement on the March 14th executive order and a publicity campaign, Show Up for Our Libraries. EveryLibrary has multiple resources for library advocates.
How can Attleboro Library users help? Visit the library! Tell your friends and neighbors WHY you visit the library so they will too! Library usage is connected to library funding. Want to be louder? Submit your library story to Empowered by Libraries, contact local, state and federal officials and tell them what your library means to you and why it is important. Your story matters!
The staff, board and volunteers at the Attleboro Public Library see and appreciate the community’s support every day we’re open. We encourage you to speak up and let everyone know about this valuable resource in the heart of Attleboro’s downtown that is free and open to all, and dedicated to keeping information accessible.
