Did you know that the Library has an entire room dedicated to Attleboro History? Open to the public–and with no appointment required!–APL’s Local History Room contains books, documents, and microfilm catering to the rich history of the city. While these items can’t leave the premises, all are available for patrons to peruse. Reference Staff are available to assist with research, and if the Library doesn’t have what you are looking for, we are happy to point you in the direction of an organization that will. Whether you are an avid genealogical researcher or a lifelong resident looking to take a walk down memory lane, APL’s Local History Room is a great place to be!
In addition to the Library’s physical historical collection, much diligent work has been done to digitize the archive of The Attleboro Sun/The Sun Chronicle, making it even easier for patrons to have Attleboro’s history at their fingertips. This free, online database is searchable, savable, and best of all, available anywhere, 24/7! (This resource is still a work in progress, so check back regularly as more editions become available.)
