NEA Big Read: Attleboro has a quartet of events for you to enjoy this month–in Attleboro and beyond! On Thursday, April 13, from 1-2pm, join us at Bridgewater State University’s main campus for #BeSeen, a social-justice-focused exploration of Rebekah Taussig’s Sitting Pretty. Next, we will be outdoors at Attleboro Springs on Saturday, April 15, from 10-11:30am for a Sensory Explorations event with educators from Mass Audubon’s Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary. Enjoy a journey around the All-Persons Trail, universally designed to allow everyone to enjoy nature, using your sight, hearing, and smell at this fun, all-ages event.
Finally, Friday, April 21, has two hands-on events happening in the afternoon. The City’s Council On Aging will, from 1-3pm, demonstrate two 30-minute seated exercise programs (Drums Alive! and Zumba) as well as share tips during their Living with a Disability: How to Build a Fun, Fit, and Fulfilling Life session. And for young people in grades 2-5, learn how to Engineer a Prosthetic Limb during this STEM-based engineering activity with SEED Education from 2-3pm. Scientists will help attendees design and build an artificial limb for stuffed animals using simple items.
Library staff will be at all events with copies of Sitting Pretty and information on our collections and services. For more information on the 2022 NEA Big Read: Attleboro, visit attleboros1abc.org.
