Even though winter is still with us, the APL is planning for spring (and summer) programs for tweens and teens! We’ve started adding some new programs and some old favorites to the calendar. If you’ve got a kid in 5th-12th grades take a look at what is coming up! Our Tween/Teen Coordinator Meghan Witherell can’t wait to see tweens and teens at programs and get their feedback, especially on the new programs!
Here are some of the fun things that are coming up in March and April:
Wednesday, March 29, 6-7pm– Writing Workshop for 5th-12th grades– During this program youth will get creative using story cubes and other writing prompts alongside like-minded peers. If your tween/teen enjoys writing, this program is for them!
Wednesday, April 12, 6-7pm– Poetry & Pizza for 5th-12th grades– Have a tween or teen who loves to write and/or read poetry? This is the program for them! During the hour, participants will be invited to share poems they have written, or read a favorite written by another author. Don’t have a poem handy to read? Don’t worry, there will be some poetry books available in the room which participants can go through to find something to read out loud. Don’t feel like reading, that is okay too! When not reading, participants can eat pizza and work on some blackout poetry!
Tuesday, April 18, 2:15-4pm– Manga Drawing for 5th-12th grades– Calling all youth in 5th-12th grades who love Manga and drawing!! During this session we will be following along with the Creativebug video tutorial “Manga Drawing: How to Draw Faces” taught by celebrated artist and author, Camilla d”Errico!
Thursday, April 20, 6-7pm– Friendshipping Program for 5th-12th grades— During this program participants will meet and talk with new friends (or old friends if you already know them!) in small groups using prompts as conversation starters! Like speed dating…but for making friends! Come and meet new friends and learn interesting facts about your peers, while sharing about yourself as well! This program is great for tweens & teens who are really social AND those who aren’t! Don’t worry, there will be lots to talk about inspired by the prompts provided.
Programs require registration, so be sure to head on over to the events tab to sign up for the ones that you are interested in!! Be on the lookout for more information on Summer programming soon!
