The APL and our community partners invite you to “come aboard” the 2019 NEA Big Read: Attleboro, as we explore the themes and history behind Nathaniel Philbrick’s award winning In the Heart of the Sea: the Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex. Highlights of this year’s planned programs include Enormity, a 3D installation at the Attleboro Museum of Arts; a lecture on the history of whaling in Nantucket by James Russell, Executive Director of the Nantucket Historical Society and Museum; a free screening of the movie at Cinemapub in North Attleboro, a visit by the author; and our traditional themed finale dinner prepared by the students of the AHS Culinary Arts program. Visit https://attleboros1abc.org/ for complete event details and to register.
NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.
