Join the Attleboro Public Library in celebrating the community’s strong ties to Portugal by visiting the New Bedford Whaling Museum‘s traveling exhibit, “Yankee Baleeiros! The Shared Legacies of Luso and Yankee Whalers“. This engaging and educational exhibit is stopping in our second floor marble lobby on its way to San Francisco. The exhibit details early Azorean, Brazilian and Cape Verdean immigration to this area from the 18th century through to the latter half of the 20th century. Here for only 3 weeks, from Monday, July 14th to Friday, August 1st, this exhibit is not to be missed!
This exhibit is a part of the Library’s ongoing Community Languages programming, funded in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. Stay tuned for information on the APL’s first Portuguese Heritage Day on Friday, August 22nd!
