Have you heard of our Bestsellers collection? It is a small collection, located on the second floor of the library, made up of books that are found on lists like the New York Times Bestsellers and Library Reads– a selection of titles that librarians across the nation have read and voted on as their favorite new title of the month. We know how popular these titles are and how eager you are to read them. We also know that sometimes the wait list for these books can seem a little daunting. That is why we developed this collection! Our Bestsellers cannot be placed on hold- they are only available on a first come, first served basis to people visiting the shelves.
For example, take Debbie Macomber’s newest title If Not for You. This title was featured on the Library Reads list for April and is on a lot people’s to-read list this month! If you search for it in the catalog you will see something like this:
The first item is listed as “NEWFICTION”. That is our copy that you are welcomed and encouraged to place a hold on. The other two, listed as “BESTSELLER”, are in the Bestseller collection. At the time this search was done both our holdable copy and one of our Bestsellers were checked out. However, one of our Bestsellers was in! It is always a good idea to check out the Bestseller collection. Even if the title you’re waiting for isn’t there you might find something great to read in the meantime- and if you get lucky and the book you’re waiting for is there you are more than welcome to check it out even if you already have it on hold.
We also recently started adding nonfiction titles to this collection as well, so if you have been waiting for titles like Hillbilly Elegy or Bruce Springsteen’s biography you might just find a copy in the Bestsellers collection! Next time you’re in the library come on up to the second floor and check out this great collection.
