Welcome to 2017!

Where does the time go? We have seen changes in hours, personnel, programs, volunteers, and how the Library is valued in 2016. Successes include the Genealogy Club, our numerous book groups, Tail Waggin’ Tutors, Attleboro’s Big Read, Tween/Teen filmmaking and Photography Club, Sensory Story Time, the Hungrytown concert, the Memory Café, Adult Coloring Nights and wonderful collaborations with community groups.

We hope to continue the best of 2016 with some fresh ideas for 2017.   Recently hired staff members are diligently learning our protocols while simultaneously bringing innovative practices to the APL.   Existing staff were invigorated by your ideas from our 2016 survey in which programs, books, device training, and our hospitable staff rated highly as to why they come to the Library.

Whether at a Library event out in the community, or just doing our grocery shopping, we are humbled by the enthusiast responses we hear from you about what is going on in the Attleboro Library. New volunteers are coming forward to help where best they can, from upcoming Friends fundraising projects to simple tasks, such as dusting shelves.

There is much to look forward to in 2017 as our efforts to re-envision the Children’s Room and to create a Technology Training Room kick off. The Circulation Desk will be testing new ideas for circulating items; the Reference Department is reviewing ways to digitize records and to emphasize Employment Assistance offerings; the Children’s Room will look to expand its “Library on the Go” efforts. So many new things to come while holding on to what meets current community needs.

From all of us at the Attleboro Public Library, we wish you a Happy New Year and thank you for your support!   We are “Books and so much more @ YOUR Library!”
